HOW DO I RENT MY SUP?
You can easily book online and pay via Credit card.

There is free parking along Kingfisher drive or you can park in the visitors spaces.

Please call me on 0783 437 2763, if you need to hire more boards.
Website is set to 4 boards daily for 1 day rental and 4 boards daily for 1 hour rental at Apsley, more sups maybe available on the day, but please double check with me first. If you like a different time slot for your hire please contact me or write preferred pick up time in the message box when you book online. Pick up from A1 SUP Hire: 24 kingfisher drive, Hemel Hempstead HP3 9DD.

We have three locations Apsley, Hemel Hempstead HP3 9DD. We offer lessons, tours, hire, birthday parties and night riding on a daily basis. You can always call us on 0783 437 2763 if you like to paddle on a different day or time that is set on the website.
The second location is at Everyone Active Hemel Hempstead Swimming Pool, HP1 1JS, where we offer beginner's taster sessions and our polpular Sup yoga, taught by our qualified Yoga teachers.
Our third location is at the Grove Lock Pub, Leighton Buzzard LU7 0QU. We have 7 inflated sups available for lessons and hire in Leighton Buzzard. Please call us on 0783 437 2763 if you need more sups or like more info about our Corporate events in Leighton Buzzard.

DO I NEED A LICENCE?

You are automatically covered by our insurance and water licence when you have a lesson with an A1 SUP Hire instructor.
When you hire a sup from A1 Sup Hire you are covered by our water license.
Anybody paddling with you on their own board would need a licence. You can obtain it from this link: https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/membership/on-the-water-membership
WHERE DO WE MET FOR LESSONS & SUP HIRE?
We met at 24 Kingfisher dr Hemel Hempstead HP3 9DD. We launch the sups near Apsley Marina by the Grand Union Canal. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes near by where you can get refreshments.

IS PADDLE BOARDING SAFE?
Yes, however like all water based activities common sense is needed and we do not recommend the use of our equipment under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Children should be supervised at all times. We strongly recommend that you wear a life jacket and they are included free with your lesson & hire.

WILL I GET WET & WHAT SHALL I WEAR?
The canal is the best place to learn paddle boarding as the water is calm and flat. The Apsley stretch shelters you from the wind by the willow trees. Canal water is warm, chances that you'll fall in is rare, as we teach you where and how to stand on the board. The reason most people fall in the water is that they move their feet and start walking on the board, hence loosing their balance. With a good technique and on calm waters you should stay dry.
Wear gym/sports clothing, bring water bottle and have a towel for splashes and a dry set of clothing with you at the end of your trip.
ARE YOUR BOARDS GOOD FOR CHILDREN?
Yes, they are stable and lightweight. Ideal Age from 8 years.
We always recommend that children wear life jackets and are supervised by a capable adult at ALL times on the water.

WHERE ELSE CAN I TAKE MY HIRED SUPS?

Canal: Park for free at Red Lion Lane HP3 9TE and paddle to Kings Langley.
The Cow Roast Inn, Tring HP23 5RF.
Aquadrome Rickmansworth WD3 1NB, drive to the end of car park follow path to canal.

River: For River Thames drive to SL8 5PS free large car park, around corner from
Spade Oak Pub (perfect for lunch), cross railway bridge.
Hurley Lock drive to SL6 5NB Hurley village free car park, follow small path to the left of car park, cross bridge, keep left across greens, launch at double concrete block.

Hertford 2 Hartham Ln, Hertford SG14 1QR, park at end of car park 20 sec to river.
Lakes: Blue Lagoon Lake, Bletchley MK2 3HB, free parking, look out for nature reserve parking sign.

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY FOR DAMAGED PRODUCTS?
The customer is responsible for the replacement value of the equipment if lost or the cost of repair if damaged. Costs are: Board £270, Bag £10, Paddle £60, Pump £12, leash £10, Phone Pouch £8.
In the event of damage or theft of the Equipment, the Customer will have to pay an insurance excess of up to three hundred pounds (£300) per event.
WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
WE DO NOT PROVIDE PUBLIC OR THIRD PARTY LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR OUR REMOTE SUP HIRE!
Customers should check with their own home or travel policy before hiring.

CAN I CANCEL MY BOOKING?
Paddle boarding - Yes, you can, If the Customer gives 24 hour notice before the booking date, booking will be re-scheduled or a full refund will be given. After 24 hours please contact me directly Monika 0783 437 2763.
Sup Yoga & Cold Water swimming - Please contact Monika at least 48 hours prior to your booking and a full refund will be given, to allow for someone else being able to book the session. After 48 hours no refund will be given, as we need to cover the pool and staffing costs. Thank you for your understanding.
Our popular Sup Yoga Sessions are held at Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre, Park Road, Hemel Hempstead, hours no refund will be issued as we need to cover the pool and staffing costs, Thank you for your understanding.
